–Minister Parag tells pupils ahead of NGSA results announcement
MINISTER of Education Sonia Parag, ahead of the release of the 2026 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) results, on Thursday encouraged pupils to remain calm as they prepare to learn which secondary schools they have gained placement at.
In a video message posted to the ministry’s social media pages ahead of the release, Parag congratulated all Grade Six pupils for reaching the important milestone in their educational journey, while acknowledging the anxiety many children and their families experience as they await the results.
“I know that you’re nervous; I know that your parents may be nervous right now. I was there last year, and I know what it feels like to wait to see those results. But don’t be nervous,” the minister said.
Against this backdrop, she reminded pupils that completing the NGSA marks the beginning of a new chapter, urging them to embrace their secondary education with enthusiasm regardless of the school to which they are assigned.
“You have crossed the milestone, and you’re now heading into your secondary educational journey. Irrespective of what secondary school you got, I want you to head into that journey with passion, focus, and dedication,” Parag stated.
The minister also encouraged parents, guardians, teachers and other family members to join today’s official announcement of the results, after which pupils will be able to access their individual results through the Online portal.
Meanwhile, the Education Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting students throughout their academic careers, assuring pupils that continued investments will be made in education.
“Please remember that we are very proud of you, and as a government, we will continue to invest in your educational journey,” she said.
In April, it was indicated that some 15,938 pupils across Guyana were set to sit the two-day examination in May.
Ahead of the examination, the minister had encouraged candidates to approach the assessment with confidence, reminding them that years of preparation had equipped them for success.
