-during Region Two outreach
RESIDENTS of Affiance on the Essequibo Coast have praised President Mohamed Irfaan Ali for his hands-on approach to governance, as concerns raised during Saturday’s Cabinet outreach were addressed immediately through referrals and on-the-spot interventions.

The outreach formed part of the Government’s continuing engagement with citizens across Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), providing residents with direct access to the President, Cabinet ministers and senior government officials.
Bruce, a resident of Affiance, expressed gratitude for the President’s visit, noting that many of the concerns raised by residents were addressed during the outreach.
“I thank His Excellency President Irfaan Ali and his team for visiting us in Affiance. I think most of us got our concerns resolved. I can see tremendous development in our community and throughout the country. I thank the President for the wonderful work he is doing. May God bless the President and his Cabinet. We know we will continue to see him in the future,” he said.
Another resident, Ron Baharran, attended the outreach seeking assistance with an application for a firearm licence.

Following discussions with the president, he was immediately referred to the relevant authorities for follow-up.
“I am pleased with the President. I came with an issue regarding my firearm application, and I got through. On Tuesday, I will follow up to ensure everything is completed,” Baharran said.
Meanwhile, Pradek Lall, who resides in the United States, said he has been waiting since 2015 for a houselot application to be approved.
After raising the matter directly with President Ali, he was referred to officials from the Ministry of Housing.
Lall also committed to commencing construction within six months, once he is allocated a houselot.
“I’ve been waiting since 2015 for a houselot. The president gave me his word that the matter will now be addressed. Once I receive the land, I will begin construction within six months,” he stated.

Resident Melrose Henry said the outreach demonstrated the value of taking government directly to the people, noting that residents from across Region Two travelled to meet with the President.
“It has allowed residents and Essequibians to interact directly with the President. I have seen issues being resolved on the spot, and for those that require follow-up, I believe action will be taken.”
She added, “When issues are resolved, it makes people happy. Nobody comes out in the rain to raise a concern, only to leave dissatisfied. Today, I saw satisfied faces, and that is what meeting the people is all about.” [DPI]
