A 33-year-old South Ruimveldt man has been granted bail for robbery under arms following the armed robbery of a woman outside a supermarket at Herstelling, East Bank Demerara.
John Sampson, a self-employed resident of Congress Drive, South Ruimveldt, appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court on Friday, where the charge was read to him.
The charge alleges that on July 2, 2026, Sampson committed robbery under arms against a 30-year-old housewife of Herstelling. He pleaded not guilty and was granted $100,000 bail.
The matter was adjourned to July 30, 2026.
According to police, the victim had just exited a supermarket at Herstelling at about 13:00 hrs and was walking along a street when two men in a white motor car approached her.

Acting on information received, police later intercepted the suspected getaway vehicle in Georgetown and arrested Sampson, who was allegedly the driver.
