Police in Regional Division #1 are investigating a serious alleged domestic violence incident involving a 31-year-old Opposition Member of Parliament of the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party and his reputed wife, which reportedly occurred on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at approximately 17:00hrs in Moruca, North West District.
According to preliminary police investigations, the couple was at their residence when an argument allegedly escalated into a physical confrontation.
Authorities said the situation intensified after the suspect allegedly assaulted a four-year-old child, prompting the victim to intervene. The suspect then allegedly attacked the woman, inflicting multiple blows and pushing her to the ground, causing her to strike her head and briefly lose consciousness.
Police further reported that the victim alleged the suspect later armed himself with a chopper and advanced towards her in a threatening manner, causing her to fear for her life and safety.
The woman subsequently reported the matter at the Acquero Police Station and was escorted to seek medical attention.
The suspect was later arrested by police and remains in custody as investigations continue
