A 25-year-old man is in police custody after officers recovered a suspected stolen motorcycle and a suspected gel gun during an operation on the East Bank of Demerara on Wednesday morning.
According to police, ranks from the Farm/Herstelling Police Station were conducting patrols along the Bagotstown/Eccles Public Road at approximately 04:20 hours when they observed the man riding a motorcycle bearing trade plates.

Police said the rider was signalled to stop, but allegedly refused and attempted to flee. The pursuit ended along Flour Mill Road, East Bank Demerara, where the motorcyclist reportedly lost control and fell. He was subsequently apprehended by the ranks.
The suspect was escorted to the Farm/Herstelling Police Station along with the motorcycle and a haversack containing several items.
Investigators later determined that the motorcycle is suspected to have been stolen and may be linked to a report filed within Regional Police Division Three.
As part of the ongoing investigation, police conducted a search of the suspect’s residence, where a suspected gel gun was discovered and seized.
The motorcycle, haversack, its contents, and the suspected gel gun have since been lodged as evidence pending further investigations.
The man remains in custody as detectives continue their inquiries into the matter.
