A 19-year-old teacher from Cullen, Essequibo Coast, is in police custody after ranks allegedly discovered a quantity of suspected cannabis in a motor car during an operation at Suddie.
Police said the discovery was made around 18:15 hrs on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, during an exercise conducted at a shop in the area.
According to investigators, the teacher was contacted in the vicinity of motor car PAD 2574 and a search was carried out in his presence.
During the search, ranks reportedly found a bulky black plastic bag on the rear passenger seat of the vehicle.
The bag contained a transparent package with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.
The suspect was arrested and escorted to the Suddie Police Station along with the suspected narcotic.
Police said the substance was weighed in the suspect’s presence and amounted to 92.3 grams before being lodged.
The teacher remains in custody as investigations continue.
