POLICE have arrested three men following the discovery of suspected cannabis during an operation at La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara, on Tuesday night.

The operation was carried out between 19:50 hrs and 20:16 hrs when ranks observed several males in the area.

Police said a fourth male, who was seen running in a northern direction, was pursued but managed to escape.

While combing the area, ranks discovered a bulky black plastic bag on a dam. A search of the bag allegedly revealed several transparent zip-lock bags containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.

The three suspects—a 29-year-old electrical worker of Onion Field, La Bonne Intention; a 34-year-old plumber of Canterbury Walk, Betterverwagting; and a 28-year-old carpenter of Onion Field, La Bonne Intention—were arrested and escorted to the Betterverwagting Police Station.

The suspected cannabis was weighed in their presence and amounted to 364 grams before being lodged.

The men remain in police custody as investigations continue.
