FUTURE Sports and Entertainment is set to host “A Day of Fun Football Competition” on Sunday, May 24, at the Western Tigers Ground, bringing together senior and junior footballers for what organisers are promoting as a community-driven sporting event.
The competition will feature two categories, Men’s Senior and Boys and Girls Junior, with cash prizes totalling hundreds of thousands of dollars up for grabs in the senior division.
According to the event flyer, the winning senior team will receive $150,000, while second, third and fourth place finishers will earn $100,000, $75,000 and $50,000 respectively. Junior participants will compete for medals and trophies.
Organisers said the event is intended to provide a day of entertainment while encouraging youth participation in sports and strengthening community involvement through football. Music by a popular sound system is also expected to add to the atmosphere throughout the day’s activities.
Several businesses and community sponsors have thrown their support behind the initiative, including Culture Sport, Ross, Wanita’s Car Wash and CN Construction.
The tournament is expected to attract players, football fans and residents from surrounding communities as grassroots football activities continue to grow in popularity across Guyana.
