THE Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club (GMR&SC) has officially confirmed that the South Dakota Circuit will host the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Superbike Championship on July 11 and 12.
This historic event represents the largest motorcycle racing meet ever staged in Guyana and the wider Caribbean region, uniting elite competitors and factory-specification machinery from across Latin America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
The international race meeting will run concurrently with the third round of the GT Challenge de las Americas GT3 Series, creating a comprehensive weekend of high-performance motorsport.
This international fixture follows a highly successful campaign by the Guyanese delegation in Panama, where local competitors demonstrated world-class technical and driving standards on the international stage.
Capitalising on this competitive momentum, the home contingent is prepared to mount a definitive defence of national territory against a formidable field of international challengers.
The entry list features premium factory machinery, establishing a highly technical grid across multiple displacement categories.
The heavyweight class will showcase the pinnacle of superbike engineering, featuring the Ducati V4R, Ducati Panigale, Yamaha R1, BMW S1000RR, Kawasaki ZX10R, Suzuki GSXR1000, and Honda CBR1000RR. The highly agile middleweight division will see competitive representation from the Yamaha R6, Kawasaki ZX6R, Honda CBR600RR, and Triumph platforms.
A star-studded international field exceeding 30 classified riders from powerhouse nations—including Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Ecuador—will arrive in Guyana to challenge the local vanguard.
Competitors will contest two premier categories: the Superbike 600cc and the Superbike 1000cc classes. On the line are regional championship glory, crucial sporting points, and a prize purse exceeding US$30,000.
The event adheres to strict sporting regulations and begins with official free practice sessions. Drivers will then transition into a high-intensity Saturday qualifying session to determine official grid positioning.
The final classification will be decided on Sunday, with two heats per class, and the overall winners will be determined by the standard accumulated points system.
