—Entrepreneur expands handcrafted product line, eyes physical storefront
PASSION and dedication are at the heart of Nadia Lockhart’s journey as a creative entrepreneur, driving the continuous expansion of Nadia’s Craft Shop, an online-based business established in November 2018.
What began with the creation of candle holders has since evolved into a diverse range of handcrafted items, including handmade florals, decorative bottles, resin coasters, hand-painted Guyana-themed bags, clothing, and door wreaths, particularly popular during the last holiday season.
In addition, she also makes corsages, fascinators, which are elegantly decorated headbands, perfect for tea parties or other special occasions.
Asked about where her materials are sourced, Nadia expressed that the bottles, for example, are recycled wine bottles and rum bottles which are cleaned and used in her crafts, while the wreaths are made with either styrofoam or wood.
“Well, at the moment, since I’ve added hand-painted Guyana bags, and I’ve added clothing, so the moment the clothing and the bags, they’re off the hook; I’ve been getting a lot of sales with those, because I even have placemats that I used to make bags with. So, the bags and the clothing,” she shared.
A full-time entrepreneur, Nadia said she now has more time to dedicate to her craft, allowing her to consistently develop new and innovative products.
“There are times when I put my mind to do something, I go straight through. I work, I don’t stop. I would work for eight to 10 hours in a day, and then start again the next day. Most times, I don’t wait for an event. If I have an idea and feel I need to work on it right away, I do,” she explained.
She added that her business continues to grow through word-of-mouth and social media, with customers frequently sharing her work and attracting new clients.
“But that’s basically how my business is going right now, until I have a physical location where I can fully open to the public and persons can walk in, see items, and make purchases,” she said.
The woman stated that each piece she creates comes from the heart and is created with love, crafted with care and intention.
Nadia regularly participates in local exhibitions, including Uncapped and the We Lift Expo hosted by the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security.
She is also scheduled to showcase her products at an exhibition event at the Georgetown Club on May 9, 2026, under the Black Magenta theme in observance of Mother’s Day.
