The internationally acclaimed Hebei Acrobatic Troupe paid a visit to Queen’s College on Friday, and both students and teachers were enthralled by their breathtaking theatrical presentation. The Chinese acrobats have so far made appearances in Regions 10, Three, Six, and Two, and in Georgetown at the National Cultural Centre, and several schools. The troupe’s appearance in Guyana comes as our country celebrates its 60th Independence Anniversary. These performances coincide with the Diamond Jubilee celebrations, and 54 years of diplomatic relations between China and Guyana. The Hebei Acrobatic Troupe was founded in 1976, and has performed in over 80 countries and earned over 60 international awards. The performances of the troupe are being staged through a partnership between the Government of Guyana and the Chinese Embassy, with sponsorship from CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited (Sachin Persaud photos)
