A COMMERCIAL mission from the Kingdom of Spain engaged with Dr Peter Ramsaroop, Guyana’s Chief Investment Officer, Office of the President and Member of Parliament, to explore investment opportunities in Guyana.
The delegation, according to information from the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest), was led by Spain’s Ambassador to Guyana, María Gutiérrez, along with Economic and Commercial Counsellor, Fernando Varela.
During the discussions, Dr Ramsaroop outlined the government’s Vision 2030 agenda while highlighting the wide range of opportunities available to investors and Guyana’s enabling business environment.
He also spoke at length on the region’s growing food demand, stressing CARICOM’s need to reduce its food import bill and the critical role investment will play in expanding agricultural production, as well as the movement of goods within Guyana, the wider Caribbean, and northern Brazil.
He identified the logistics and transport sector as a critical enabler of regional integration, as it presents strong opportunities for both local and foreign direct investment (FDI) to support trade and supply chain development.
Dr Ramsaroop also emphasised the importance of establishing strong local partnerships, and encouraged the delegation to engage with Guyana’s private sector bodies as a key step in entering the Guyana market.
