PRICEWATERHOUSECOOPERS (PwC) is strengthening its presence in Guyana, positioning itself to meet growing demand for professional services while building a pipeline of local talent to support the country’s expanding economy.

PwC’s Assurance Partner, Aruni Singh-Persaud said the firm is excited to be part of Guyana’s development journey, following the recent opening of its permanent office at the Pegasus Corporate Centre in Kingston, Georgetown.

While PwC has operated in Guyana for several years, the establishment of a physical office signals a deeper commitment to the local market.

Singh-Persaud noted that increasing economic activity has created strong demand for services such as auditing, accounting, business advisory, and corporate support.

“We would like people to understand we are a professional services firm, and the type of support that we can provide,” she said.

She explained that PwC’s Corporate and Legal Services Department supports entrepreneurs with business registration, licensing and related processes; services that are becoming increasingly important as more Guyanese move to formalise their businesses.

“With the increased economic activity, a lot of people are trying to incorporate businesses in Guyana; so, that’s a way we can support the Guyanese people,” she said.

The firm is also providing accounting and business solutions to companies that may not have the capacity to employ full-time finance professionals.

“If a company cannot hire their own accountant full-time, there are practical solutions that we can offer the market. And of course, our flagship line of service is audit,” Singh-Persaud added.

She emphasised that PwC’s role extends beyond service delivery to strengthening transparency and investor confidence through accurate and reliable financial reporting.

Another key focus for the firm is talent development.

Singh-Persaud said PwC serves as a training ground for young professionals, offering mentorship and structured development pathways.

“So, it is somewhere young people can come and grow and prosper with us, and we are willing to invest the time to train and mentor them,” she said.

PwC also supports employees pursuing professional qualifications, covering tuition and examination fees for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) programme, as well as annual subscriptions for ACCA and the Institute of Chartered Accountants Guyana (ICAG).

The firm recently participated in the University of Guyana’s Open Day and Job Fair 2026, where it engaged students and showcased career opportunities

Country Manager for PwC Guyana, Saeed Rahaman said the organisation offers a range of career paths beyond auditing.

“The future looks bright in terms of accounting and the different career paths available. In addition to auditing, we offer tax and legal services, as well as advisory and management consultancy,” he said.

Rahaman added that the firm is also exploring opportunities to expand beyond Georgetown, with a focus on tapping talent across the country.

At present, PwC employs staff from Berbice, including remote and part-time workers, as part of efforts to decentralise employment opportunities.

Beyond recruitment, PwC is also working to raise the standard of the accounting profession locally, collaborating with industry bodies to ensure professionals remain aligned with evolving practices and opportunities.
