Police probe suspected murder of construction worker

THE police in Regional Division Three have launched an investigation into the suspected murder of a 25-year-old construction worker.

According to information from the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the victim is Ricardo Thompson of Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara (WCD).

The police suspect that the murder occurred between Friday, April 10, 2026 and Saturday, April 11, 2026 at De Willem, WCD.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Thompson and his reputed wife had a misunderstanding on Friday, after which the wife went to her parents’ house at De Willem.

Further enquiries disclosed that Thompson later went to her parents’ house, where he was found motionless on the stairs of the house around 03:00hrs, on Saturday.

“Police visited the scene where marks of violence were observed on the body. CCTV footage from a nearby camera was seen and is being reviewed,” the police said.

Thompson was escorted to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty. The body was subsequently taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

The police have since detained a 27-year-old housewife of Meten-Meer-Zorg, WCD, and a 36-year-old man of De Willem, who are in custody assisting with investigations.
