Georgetown families invited to turn household waste into organic soil

LOCAL families are being encouraged to transform everyday kitchen scraps and cardboard into nutrient-rich soil at an upcoming hands-on composting workshop organised by PBPT Caribbean.

The Waste-to-Wealth T.E.C.H Composting Session is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, 2026, at the Eco-Garden International Veg. Restaurant, located at 171 Mandela Avenue, opposite Thirst Park.

The intensive session will run from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM and is designed to teach residents how to convert household waste into “OMGS” (Organic Miracle Garden Soil) using the T.E.C.H method—Thermophilic, Easy, Clean, Home-base.

“By mastering the balance of ‘Greens and Browns,’ families can stop discarding valuable organic material and instead create a sustainable, nutrient-rich resource for home gardens,” said a spokesperson for PBPT Caribbean.

Participants will receive hands-on guidance in: The Art of the Mix, balancing greens and browns to produce OMGS; The Power of Shredding – fast cardboard processing techniques; and DIY System Building – constructing a T.E.C.H Composter using a drum system.

Attendance is limited to 15 families, and each family may include up to four participants. The registration fee of $15,000 covers training, access to professional Waste-to-Wealth shredders, drum modification instructions, and a free family meal. Participants are asked to bring two half-plastic drums and a supply of clean cardboard to the session.

PBPT Caribbean is committed to promoting sustainable waste management across the region. Its Waste-to-Wealth initiative provides practical education and tools to help communities reduce their environmental footprint while fostering self-sufficiency.

Families interested in participating can register or request additional information via WhatsApp at 757-3855.
