THE Ministry of Education Guyana has intensified efforts to improve educational outcomes in Region Seven, with more than 50 primary school teachers benefitting from targeted training sessions held from March 24 to 27, 2026, in Bartica and Kamarang.

The sessions, conducted through the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD), focused on equipping teachers with practical strategies across core subject areas, including Mathematics, English, Social Studies, and Science.

Emphasis was placed on improving performance at the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA), with training covering questioning techniques, content requirements, elimination strategies, and the effective use of context clues.

In addition to teacher training, Grade 11 students of DC Caesar Fox Secondary School also benefitted from the initiative. Students received guidance on School-Based Assessments (SBAs) and were provided with key strategies to help them better prepare for the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations.

The programme was led by NCERD Director, O. Ramdin, supported by a team comprising Mahendra Sharma, Jeniffer Nicholson, Lucretia Obermuller, Arth Austin, and Maranda Sobers.

According to the Ministry, the initiative forms part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening teaching capacity and improving student performance nationwide, particularly in hinterland regions.
