Discussions centred on a number of ongoing concerns affecting residents, including illegal vending, encumbrances along parapets, noise nuisance, and the burning of garbage. Both sides underscored the need for coordinated action to tackle these issues and enhance the quality of life within the community.
Assistant Commissioner Pareshram stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between law enforcement and local government bodies, noting that such partnerships are essential for maintaining order and ensuring safer communities.
He also encouraged ongoing engagement with all Neighbourhood Democratic Councils within Division 4 ‘C’, highlighting that collective efforts remain key to addressing challenges effectively.
Additionally, the Regional Commander pointed to the value of education and digital skills development, urging councillors to promote programmes such as the Zara Computer Centre at Cove and John, which offers free computer training for children and adults. He encouraged council members to ensure that residents are informed and able to benefit from these opportunities.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by the Guyana Police Force to strengthen community policing initiatives and build closer relationships with local stakeholders.
Meanwhile, Regional Division 4 ‘C’ has also announced three upcoming community-focused events aimed at fostering unity and positive engagement across communities.
The festivities kick off on Saturday, March 28, with the Youth and Scout Groups Kite Flying Competition at the Enmore Community Centre Ground. Starting at 10:00hrs, the event will challenge the creativity and skill of young participants.
Categories for the competition include “Highest Flying Kite,” “Most Patriotic Kite,” and “Best Handmade Kite,” with special recognition for the “Best Young Flyer” in the under-10 and under-12 age groups. This event highlights the local tradition of kite making while providing a safe, spirited environment for the region’s youth.
Following the kite flying, the focus shifts to the Enterprise Family Fun Day on Sunday, April 5, at the Enterprise Community Centre Ground. Scheduled to begin at 09:00 hrs, this day is organized in partnership with the Enterprise Community Development Committee (CDC) and the Community Policing Group (CPG).
Attendees can look forward to a diverse sports lineup, including five-over cricket, bicycle races, and five-a-side football. Beyond the sports, the event promises a festive atmosphere with trophies for winners and BBQ and drinks available for purchase.
The series concludes on Saturday, April 25, with a Family Fun Day at the Beterverwagting Community Centre Ground, held in collaboration with the Beterverwagting Youth Empowerment Football Group.
This event, which offers free entry to the public, features a high-stakes “5-A-Side Interblock Football” tournament as its main attraction. Alongside the football, the ground will host a variety of track and field events and classic novelty competitions that emphasize “clean fun,” such as lime and spoon races, three-legged races, and dominoes.
Across all three dates, the organizers emphasize a commitment to “community togetherness” and “community spirit.” By partnering with local empowerment groups and policing committees, Regional Division 4 ‘C’ aims to provide wholesome entertainment that encourages residents of all ages to come out and support local talent and traditional Guyanese pastimes.
Organisers noted that trophies and prizes will be up for grabs, while refreshments, including barbecue and drinks, will be on sale. Both events are being promoted under themes centred on clean fun, community spirit, and togetherness.
