PLANS are already underway for the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security’s sixth annual We Lift women’s expo, a pivotal platform for showcasing the ingenuity and economic contributions of women-owned enterprises across Guyana.
The subject minister, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, on Friday last met with the planning committee. The event is set to be bigger, bolder, and more creative when it is held from March 6 to 8, 2026 at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre (ACCC) at Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara, under the theme, ‘Let Her Bloom’.
Providing an update on her page, Minister Persaud said this year, there is an exciting programme set, along with bold initiatives and creative ideas. The event is expected to feature over 400 women-owned businesses from across Guyana.
“We’ll be reaching out to you, but I got the ball rolling, because I met my team, I gave them the direction, what I wanted it to look like, the vision of We Lift 2026 and they hit the ground running by already visiting the site and we are going to be putting things in place,” Dr. Persaud said.
The We Lift expo is one of Dr. Persaud’s flagship initiatives, and is fashioned as a supportive ecosystem, where women entrepreneurs can confidently and proudly present their products and services, engage in meaningful dialogue with other business owners, and explore collaborative avenues to enhance their creative and innovative potential.
It is a testament to the ministry’s commitment to economic empowerment, and gender equality, providing a critical stage for the evolving businesses led by women in various sectors.
Since its inception, the ministry has seen many businesses grow from micro to mid-level businesses. It is hoped that this exposure will allow businesses to expand.
Through the expo, women are able to partner with other business owners, and have contracts with larger entities like hotels, to supply different products.
Persons can keep checking the ministry’s Facebook page for updates on the plans for the event.
