IN a high-stakes finale to the 2025 season, Archery Guyana turned the Everest Cricket Club Grounds into a battlefield of precision.
With national ranking points on the line and the pressure of a “win-or-go-home” atmosphere, the country’s top archers delivered a masterclass in focus to close out the year.
In the Recurve Men’s bracket, Jeewanram Persaud put on a clinical display of marksmanship.
Fending off a gritty surge from silver medalist Lucas Chung and the hard-charging Trevaughn Waldron, Persaud secured the Gold, cementing his status as the man to beat in the national rankings.
On the women’s side, Karin Onica Toppin proved why she’s a force to be reckoned with.
In a head-to-head clash of nerves, Toppin outpointed Roshini Boodhoo to claim the top spot on the podium.
The Barebow divisions—where technology takes a backseat to raw instinct—saw Mehandra Chatargum and Melesa Ramnaraine dominate their respective fields.
Chatargum survived a three-way dogfight against Nolan Gray and Richard Dookie to take the Men’s title, while Ramnaraine cruised to a statement victory in the Women’s division.
The “Next Gen” of Guyanese archery officially put the league on notice. Saifullah Gani (U18 Recurve) and Fatima Gani (U18 Barebow) both secured Gold, proving the future of the sport is in very capable—and very steady—hands.
“Success in archery is built on patience and dedication to the process,” said Archery Guyana President Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon.
With the backing of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and the Guyana Olympic Association, the federation is clearly playing the long game, building a pathway for international glory.
