POLICE are investigating the murder of 49-year-old Gavin Linden Melville, also known as “Doggie”, a labourer of Tuschen Phase 2, East Bank Essequibo.
Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred at about 01:15 hours on December 25. Preliminary investigations revealed that Melville and his 48-year-old reputed wife had returned home after attending an event when an altercation reportedly occurred inside the residence. During the incident, Melville received a stab wound to the neck.
Police ranks who responded to the scene observed Melville lying motionless in the living room. He was subsequently transported to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
The body was later taken to the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination. The 48-year-old woman was taken into police custody and later escorted to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital, where she was examined and discharged. She remains in custody as investigations continue.
