CHRISTMAS joy flowed generously across Region Two on Saturday as the true spirit of the season came alive through a series of gift and toy distributions that touched the hearts of children and families in many villages.
The excitement of children from Good Hope and other villages filled the air as they gathered with wide smiles and eager anticipation. The distribution exercise was led by Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Madanlall Ramraj and was made possible through the generosity of His Excellency, President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali.
Carefully selected toys were handed to children, each gift symbolising love, care, and the promise that every child deserves to feel special during Christmas. Youth leaders from the Progressive Youth Organisation (PYO) interacted with children and shared the toys. Minister Ramraj was also joined by Regional Chairman, Devin Mohan and Deputy Regional Executive Officer, Omesh Sasenaryan.
Everywhere the team went, they were met with joyful laughter, cheerful greetings, and the infectious happiness of children.
Parents expressed heartfelt gratitude as they watched their sons and daughters receive gifts, many capturing the moment with photos and warm embraces. For some families, this simple act of kindness made the season brighter and more meaningful.
The distribution was not only about toys, but about connection—bringing communities together, uplifting spirits, and reinforcing the values of generosity and compassion.
Minister Ramraj said the distribution served as a reminder that Christmas is about sharing joy, spreading hope, and standing in unity with one another. He said that he was happy that children received a toy.
As the smiles of children lit up villages across Region Two, it became clear that the joy of Christmas is greatest when it is shared.
“I am very grateful for the gift for my children as a single mother sometimes it’s hard and at least all my children received” a mother said
Through this thoughtful initiative, the season was made memorable for many, leaving behind lasting happiness and reinforcing the message that no child is forgotten.
