While branding the transformation taking place as “unbelievable,” Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Governance of Guyana, Gail Teixeira, announced that the new $553 million Bartica Stelling will be commissioned tomorrow, Sunday, August 9.

She made this announcement on Saturday during a rally at Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), where she said that the government had finished the work that the A Partnership for National Unity + Alliance For Change (APNU/AFC) Coalition had abandoned.
When the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) Government resumed office in August 2020, the project required significant intervention to meet acceptable standards and ensure value for money.
The facility is expected to enhance transportation access and further enhance economic activities in the township, which has become increasingly vibrant with ongoing tourism events and infrastructural development.
A key feature of the modern facility is its capacity to accommodate roll-on/roll-off ferry operations, an upgrade that will greatly improve logistics and accessibility for passengers and cargo.
