Wendy’s sets sights on Guyana with flagship restaurant opening in August

Wendy’s—an iconic global fast-food brand known for its square hamburgers and Frosty™ treats—is officially coming to Guyana.

Through a new franchise partnership with WenKai Inc., a wholly Guyanese-owned company, Wendy’s is set to open its first local restaurant in August 2025, at Vlissingen Road, Georgetown. This flagship outlet will offer all-day dining from breakfast to dinner with drive-thru, dine-in, and delivery options, introducing Guyanese consumers to the brand’s signature bold flavours and modern convenience.

And this is only the beginning. WenKai Inc. has confirmed plans to open two more Wendy’s restaurants in Guyana before year-end, and has secured rights to expand into Suriname, laying the foundation for a bold regional rollout.

The announcement is said to be win for both Wendy’s global brand and Guyana’s fast-evolving consumer market. As one of the world’s most recognisable QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) brands, Wendy’s sees Guyana as a high-potential growth market, driven by increasing demand for international brands, modern convenience, and foodservice innovation.

In true Wendy’s style, the Guyana locations will stay true to the brand’s global commitment: “Quality is Our Recipe.” That means meals made fresh to order, customizable options, and familiar favourites like: Signature square hamburgers, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Crispy chicken nuggets, Bone-in fried chicken and the iconic Frosty dessert.
