Georgetown, Guyana – The University of Guyana (UG) is set to host its highly anticipated 2025 Open Day and Job Fair, a two-day event at the Turkeyen Campus on March 7-8, followed by a session at the Berbice Campus on March 12. Under the theme Explore. Connect. Evolve., this annual gathering serves as a bridge between academia and industry, offering students and job seekers an opportunity to interact with professionals, explore career paths, and secure employment opportunities.
Thousands of secondary school students, university hopefuls, and young professionals will converge on the university’s campuses to participate in what has become a hallmark event in the nation’s academic and employment calendar. With over 180 programmes on display, the Open Day segment will allow

visitors to interact with lecturers, explore UG’s diverse faculties, and engage with various student organizations and service units.
The Job Fair component will feature a stellar lineup of local and international public and private sector companies actively seeking talent. Employers such as AGM Inc., ExxonMobil, Banks DIH, Guyana Water Inc., El Dorado Offshore, Linsayca, Omni Helicopters, Halliburton, Caribbean Airlines, Massy Motors, Guyana Defence Force, SLB, G Mining Ventures, Republic Bank, Ansa McAl Distributors, and Gulf Engineering are among the participating entities. Attendees will have the rare opportunity to be interviewed and potentially shortlisted for jobs and internships on the spot, creating a direct pipeline from education to employment.

Since its inception in 2022, the integration of a job fair into UG’s Open Day has successfully fostered knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration between students and the corporate sector. The event has become a pivotal recruitment hub, ensuring that graduates and job seekers are well-positioned for career success.

Chief among the highlights is the grand Opening Ceremony at the Turkeyen Campus on Friday, March 7, at 9:00 AM at the Multipurpose Auditorium. The event will feature remarks from key dignitaries, including Minister of Education Priya Manickchand, UG Vice-Chancellor Professor Paloma Mohamed Martin, Registrar Dr. Nigel Gravesande, and other industry experts. A similar ceremony will take place at the UG Berbice Campus on Wednesday, March 12, at 9:00 AM in the UGBC Auditorium. Both ceremonies will be livestreamed on the University’s Facebook page, ensuring accessibility for those unable to attend in person.

The event is open to students from secondary schools across the country, post-secondary institutions, job seekers, professionals, and the general public. Activities begin at 10:00 AM daily and admission is free of cost. Attendees will gain valuable insights into career opportunities, scholarship options, and professional development, making it an essential event for anyone looking to shape their future.
