GWI begins new well project in Rockstone to improve water accessibility

THE Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) has announced the start of a new well project in Rockstone, aimed at providing consistent and reliable water access to residents, schools, health centres, and other community facilities. Scheduled for completion by the end of November 2024, this project is expected to significantly alleviate water supply issues in the area, ensuring that essential services and residents have uninterrupted access to safe water.

GWI’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Shaik Baksh, emphasised the importance of the project for the Rockstone community. “We recognise that reliable water access is vital for any community, especially one like Rockstone, where schools and health centres play an essential role,” Baksh stated. “This project reflects our commitment to ensuring that every resident, especially vulnerable groups and essential service providers, has access to safe and reliable water.”

The project also highlights GWI’s dedication to working alongside local stakeholders to enhance community well-being. In the coming weeks, GWI will provide updates on the project’s progress, ensuring residents are informed as work advances.

With the new well, GWI aims to bring lasting solutions to Rockstone’s water accessibility challenges, ultimately benefitting community members and essential facilities alike.
