EL Dorado Offshore (EDO) has announced the successful completion of its latest Guyana Drilling Development Programme (GDDP) cohort.
According to a press release, this achievement underscores the company’s commitment to cultivating a skilled Guyanese workforce to support the nation’s burgeoning energy sector.
The GDDP, which prioritises hands-on learning and knowledge sharing, has been instrumental in equipping Guyanese job seekers with the essential skills to thrive in the industry.
The EDO employees Steven Bagot and Denzel Southwell, both seasoned industry professionals, played a pivotal role as facilitators, sharing their expertise with the trainees. Notably, Denzel Southwell, Guyana’s first homegrown Driller, brought invaluable offshore experience to the programme.
The newly graduated cohort is now well-prepared to contribute significantly to the energy sector, with their skills applicable across various roles within the industry. Their success is a testament to the programme’s effectiveness and EDO’s dedication to capacity building.
“We are immensely proud of our GDDP graduates,” Senior Human Resource and Engagement Officer at El Dorado Offshore, Thalia Wilson, said, adding: “Their hard work and determination are inspiring, and we are confident they will excel in their chosen careers.”
In May, EDO, in partnership with Noble Corporation and MATPAL, awarded full-ride scholarships to six exceptional Guyanese cadet officers. This initiative aims to address critical skill gaps in the maritime sector and foster the development of future industry leaders.
El Dorado Offshore remains steadfast in its commitment to empowering the local workforce. The company encourages other organisations to join in this endeavour and contribute to building a strong and sustainable energy sector in Guyana
