UNITED STATES (U.S.) Ambassador to Guyana, Ms. Nicole Theriot, recently met with Guyana Police Force (GPF) Detective Superintendent Prem Narine and Assistant Superintendent Rodwell Sarrabo following their participation in the U.S.-government-sponsored International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP).

The programme, titled “Protecting Soft Targets against Terrorist Attacks,” focused on assessing terrorism prevention strategies and evaluating counter-terrorism measures that can be implemented in participants’ home countries.
During the meeting, Ambassador Theriot highlighted the U.S. Government’s strong commitment to deepening its partnership with Guyana, particularly in areas of safety and security.

She emphasised the importance of collaboration between the two nations and the active involvement of dedicated officers like Narine and Sarrabo in addressing shared challenges related to terrorism and public safety.
In a statement shared on its Facebook page, the U.S. Embassy congratulated the two officers, welcoming them to the U.S. Department of State alumni network. “Welcome to the U.S. Department of State alumni network, Prem and Rodwell,” the statement read, acknowledging their successful completion of the programme and their contributions to enhancing counter-terrorism efforts in Guyana.

The IVLP is a key component of the U.S. Government’s efforts to foster international co-operation and strengthen global security by equipping law enforcement professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to combat terrorism. The participation of Superintendent Narine and Assistant Superintendent Sarrabo underscores Guyana’s ongoing commitment to bolstering its counter-terrorism capabilities and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
