IN a testament to the enduring partnership between Guyana and India, a delegation of 30 officials and experts from law enforcement agencies and various social service groups have embarked on a significant journey to India.
They are participating in a specialised ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation) course hosted by the prestigious National Forensic Sciences University in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
This unprecedented initiative marks a milestone in the collaboration between the two nations, as it is the first time such a course focusing on forensic examination and interview techniques is being organised at such a large scale for Guyanese delegates.
The High Commissioner, Dr. Amit Telang, in a meeting with the visiting delegation, highlighted the importance of the ITEC Programme in facilitating citizen-centric capacity-building initiatives.
He underscored that ITEC scholars serve as ambassadors, consistently contributing to the enhancement of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The initiative underscores India’s commitment to supporting Guyana in strengthening its law enforcement capabilities and enhancing the skills of its professionals in the field of forensic sciences.
Through this specialised training, participants from Guyana will gain valuable insights and practical knowledge that will bolster their efforts in addressing crime and ensuring justice for their citizens.
Furthermore, the collaboration between the National Forensic Sciences University and the visiting Guyanese officials signifies a deeper level of engagement and cooperation between the academic and governmental institutions of the two nations.
As the course progresses, it is expected to not only impart technical expertise but also foster lasting bonds of friendship and cooperation between Guyana and India.
