POLICE have arrested two persons after discovering suspected narcotics during a raid of a house at Mango Landing, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni), on Thursday.

According to information from the Guyana Police Force, the suspected narcotics were found between 04:55 hrs and 05:30 hrs at the premises of a 39-year-old miner/shop owner, Martin Graham Mittelholzer and a 39-year-old cook, Dianne Abrams.

The ranks informed the persons of their intention to conduct a search for drugs, firearm or ammunition, to which they agreed.

During the search, one of the ranks found a black bulky plastic bag behind a gas stove in the kitchen. The bag contained a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be Cannabis, along with a quantity of cash (Guyana currency).

Both suspects were arrested and escorted to the Mango Landing Police Outpost with the suspected cannabis.

They were further escorted to the Mahdia Police Station, where the suspected narcotics were weighed and amounted to 185 grammes. Both suspects are in custody assisting with the investigations.
