– Region Two REO urges new NDC chairs, vice-chairs
REGION Two Regional Executive Officer (REO) Susannah Saywack has urged the new Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of the seven Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs) to get residents involved in the initiatives that they have planned for their respective communities.
She was at the time speaking to the community leaders at a simple swearing-in ceremony held on Tuesday in the boardroom of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) office.
For Good Hope/Pomona NDC Andy Ramnarine is the new chairman while Devon Tang is the Vice-Chairman. For the Annandale/Riverstown NDC Hansoutie Ramkellewan was sworn in as the Chairperson while the Vice-Chairman is Kevin Andrew Lowe.
For the Aberdeen/Zorg-en-Vlygt, Javshree Persaud is the Chairman and the Vice-Chairman is Kumar Ramdeo. The new Chairman of Evergreen/ Paradise is Lionel Boodram, while the Vice-Chairman is Jawn Persaud.

The Chairperson for Charity is Chandrawattie Coomal and the Vice-Chairman is Junior Daleep Singh. In the Pomeroon, the Nile/Cozier NDC will be led by Melroy Milton Henry and Junior Avindra Gounga will be the Vice-Chairman, while for the Moruka/Providence NDC, Godfrey Alfred Culpepper is the Chairman and Kim Juilet Bowan will take up the role of Vice-Chairperson.
Meanwhile, for the Anna Regina Town Council, the new Mayor is Devin Mohan and his deputy is Lorna Fitz Allen.
Saywack told the community leaders that accountability and transparency are very important in the management of the NDCs.
She said that regional officials will be visiting each of the NDCs in the coming week.

“You are the level that deals directly with the community; that’s how important you are, that’s how vibrant you are. The RDC is prepared to work with you in making Region Two a better place,” Saywack said.
She added that her office will be working closely with the NDCs to assist in resolving issues.
She used the opportunity to congratulate them on their new roles and reminded them that they are now tasked to represent the residents who fall under them.
Additionally, she advised them to contact the various agencies and the regional administration if they are facing challenges.
She reminded them that team work is integral and asking for support is important.
Regional Chairperson Vilma De Silva in her remarks congratulated the local leaders.
She urged them to put the people first and pointed out that regional officials are working to improve the lives of all residents.
