McCaskie anchors Barbados Pride to seven wicket win against Red Force

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, (CMC) – Zachary MCaskie hit his second half-century of the match to anchor last year’s champions Barbados Pride to a seven-wicket win against hosts Trinidad & Tobago Red Force in the West Indies Championship on Saturday.

McCaskie followed up his first innings 92 with an unbeaten 55, and Pride successfully chased 118 to clinch their second victory in a topsy-turvy season on the final day of their fourth round match at Queen’s Park Oval.

The 26-year-old opener was not out on 29 overnight, when Pride went to bed on 52 for two, and he reached his half-century from 84 balls after he lofted experienced leg-spinner Imran Khan for a straight six and swept him for a single to deep square leg off successive balls.

McCaskie added 46 unbroken with Jonathan Drakes, and formalised the result when he drove off-spinner Bryan Charles to mid-on for a single about 55 minutes after the start of play.
Drakes was not out on 27, and Charles ended with three for 34 from 16.overs, including the scalp of nightwatchman, Test left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican bowled for 12 in the seventh over of the day.

The result meant that Pride redeemed themselves after a depressing loss in the previous round against Leeward Islands Hurricanes at the same venue, and they gained 18.8 points, moving to exactly 50, while the home team took away 3.8 and moved to 28.6.

In the final round, Pride return to the same venue to face Windward Islands Volcanoes.
