INTERTEC INC., a Guyanese-owned company that will be providing offshore solutions to those in the oil and gas sector, was launched on Tuesday at the Marriott Hotel.
The company was established in 2020 in Georgetown and its directors have over 30 years of industry experience.
Its services include the provision of a wide variety of marine logistics and support projects in both deep water and continental shelf environments.
One of the directors, Hannah Vogel London, expressed belief that the launch of the company has created an opportunity for competition. It will also improve the level of services that are being provided and allow Guyanese to gain knowledge and experience at a faster pace, she said.
“As we develop, we will be increasing our staff and hiring crew that we will need on a permanent basis,” she said in remarks at the launch.
She added: “In 2023, we have plans to implement a maritime training programme and it is our mission to be as inclusive as possible and to retrain 95 per cent Guyanese national employees and we hope that, in turn, this will create the basis for more equal social contract in Guyana, allowing locals to participate in the petroleum supply chain.”
According to London, there are several partnerships with major vessel owners in place already.
London is the former Business Director of Development of Intership Limited, which provides offshore vessel services to the oil and gas offshore industry. She was born in Britain but has Guyanese roots and a Guyanese husband.
The company’s website states that its extensive expertise, combined with its local knowledge, means it can meet clients’ needs for reliable and flexible operations.
“Intertec’s Board of Directors and Beneficial Owners are 100 per cent Guyanese. You can be sure that working with Intertec means fulfilling your local content obligations and partnering with a truly Guyanese company which combines local knowledge with industry expertise,” the website states.
The company offers the full spectrum of offshore support crafts ranging from crew boats to the latest subsea intervention vessels and accommodation units, including terminal tugs. It will initially provide and operate third-party-owned tonnage to ensure there is full compliance with local regulations and, in time, will build their fleet of Guyanese-owned and operated vessels.
Intertec also provides secure, covered warehousing near the Guyana Shore Base, as well as stock management and documentation services. It can also source and procure the best quality food available on the market at the most competitive rates, ensuring the smooth and timely delivery to the offshore platform or supply vessels in containers that are specially designed to keep the food fresh during its transit.
