THE Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has named the National Under-19 squad to participate in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Regional tournament scheduled for St Vincent from August 7 to 28.
According to a release to the media yesterday, GCB indicated the Chairman of the Junior National Selection panel, Andre Percival, selected a strong National Under-19 team which comprises an excellent mix of skilled players capable of adapting to different game situations.
Alvin Mohabir, who leads the current Under-17 team, will have the distinct privilege of being captain for two national teams within the same year.
He will be supported by vice-captain Jonathan Rampersaud while West Indies Under-19 express fast bowler, Isai Thorne, who missed the ongoing Regional Under-17 tournament because of injury, has been included.
The squad also includes Rampertab Ramnauth, Mavendra Dindyal, Zachary Jodha, and Bruce Vincent, who, along with Mohabir, are in Trinidad for the Regional Under-17.
Percival will also perform the role of coach while Budhesh Chatterpaul will serve as manager.
Guyana Under-19 squad: Alvin Mohabir (captain), Jonathan Rampersaud (vice-captain), Mavendra Dindyal, Rampertab Ramnauth, Zachary Jodha, Bruce Vincent, Tommani Caesar, Mahendra Gopilall, Sachin Balgobin, Zeynul Ramsammy, Shamar Yearwood (wkp.), Jeremy Sandia, Rivaldo Phillips and Isai Thorne.
The standbys are Joash Charles, Jadon Campbell, Sanjay Algoo, Goocharran Chuli, Leon Cecil and Shiv Harripersaud
