SEVEN armed Venezuelans, on Thursday, allegedly broke into the Eteringbang Landing, Cuyuni River house of a 24-year-old businessman, and stole cash and raw gold.

According to a police release, the victim, Ronnel Sam was away in Venezuela, when the armed gang invaded his house on Thursday, around 03:30 hrs.

Enquiries by law enforcement disclosed that the suspects, who were reportedly armed with handguns, went to Sam’s business place where he sells fuel, and held his workers at gunpoint.

The suspects allegedly carted off about two kilograms of raw gold along with an undisclosed amount of cash.

“No shots were fired and no one was injured,” the police release said. An investigation is ongoing.
