Big wins for Charlestown, Carmel Secondary

ACTION in the 2022 Milo Schools Football tournament recommenced despite early morning rains, with the action as spicy as ever before.
Charlestown Secondary were by far the biggest winners of the day as they thumped Bishops’ High by 10 goals to none.
Malcolm Hendricks (27′, 40’, 42’, 65’) led the scoreline for the Charlestown side with braces from Rhyme Mathews (50′, 60’) and Tyler Lyle (22′, 52’).
Andrew Carto (13) and Micheal Andrews (44) were the other scorers as the third game of the day provided the most one sided clash.
In the opening game, Dolphin Secondary won 4-1 against St. John’s thanks to a brace from Nicolas Tappin (25′, 60’) and two single strikes from Brian Burnette (29′) and Gary Burnette (50′).
David Xavier (20′) minute goal for the losers was undone by a red card for Kenan Tyrell in the 70th minute.
The West Ruimveldt vs Queen’s College match was a closer affair with the former winning 2-1.
Elijah Sattaur’s (56′, 65’) brace ensured that the West Ruimveldt side came from behind to erase the game’s first goal from Triston Richards (54′).
Carmel Secondary 6-1 goal drubbing of Bladen Hall Multilateral was another one sided affair.
Braces from Leon Sears (8′,45′) and Dwin Baptist (20′,50′) along with love strikes from Mathew Layne (32′) and Nephi Allicock (64′) made light work of the Bladen Hall unit, whose consolation goal came from Darius Nebbleth in the 21st minute.
Today, Grove opens the day’s proceedings against Uitvlugt Secondary at 12:30 hours with North Ruimveldt Secondary and East Ruimveldt battling from 14:00 hours.
Golden Grove Secondary will play Buxton Secondary at 15:30 hours while the winner of the yesterday’s winners, Dolphin Secondary play Charlestown.
The tournament, which was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic normally takes a round robin phase; however, for this year only, the competition will feature a straight knockout format.

$300,000 will be awarded to the tournament’s winner which will go towards a school project. Second to fourth will be awarded $200,000, $100,000 and $75,000 respectively, along with individual prizes for top performers.
