AUSTIN, Texas – Jesus Ferreira scored four goals to help power the United States to a 5-0 victory over Grenada in Group D of League A of the 2022-23 CONCACAF Nations League on Friday night at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas.

Mirroring the hot Texas summer temperatures, Ferreira’s scorching form catapulted him into a tie for first place on the list of all-time CNL goalscorers for the US with four, tying Weston McKennie and Jordan Morris.
Ferreira’s four goals also tied a US record for most goals in a single match.

The US controlled things from the start and mustered up three scoring chances inside the first half-hour, with Paul Arriola heading wide in the 13th minute, Morris’ backheel being saved in the 19th and a right-footed Ferreira shot off the mark in the 28th.

The US kept mounting the pressure and their efforts were finally rewarded right before halftime in the 43rd when Ferreira ran onto the deflection of a pass from FC Dallas teammate Arriola and finished for a 1-0 US lead.
That Dallas duo would hook up again in the early stages of the second half to double the US lead, with Arriola filtering a pass into the running Ferreira, who swept in the right-footed shot for a 2-0 lead in the 54th.

Ferreira was not done and just two minutes later in the 56th, he completed his hat-trick by receiving a corner kick and one-timing a rocket into net to stretch the US lead to 3-0.
Everything was in the US’s favour and soon enough they extended their advantage to 4-0 in the 63rd with Luca De La Torre finding Arriola, who beat Grenada GK Jason Belfon for the goal.
Ferreira added his fourth and final goal in the 78th easily stroking in a shot into net off a pass from Brenden Aaronson to round out the 5-0 scoreline. (CONCACAF)
