MAGISTRATE Rhondel Weaver, on Wednesday, remanded a 37-year-old man to prison and released his female co-accused on $100,000 bail after they pleaded not guilty to unlawful possession of a gun and matching ammunition.

Terry Andrew Joseph and Shabanam Pitambar appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

It was alleged that, on June 5, 2022, at Square of the Revolution, Homestretch Avenue in Georgetown, they had a Lorcin .380 semi-automatic pistol along with one matching round of ammunition, when they were not the holders of a firearm licence.

They will return to court on July 6, 2022.

According to reports, ranks of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU), acting on information received, intercepted Joseph’s motor car at Square of the Revolution.

Pitamber was a passenger in the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, the ranks reportedly found the loaded firearm inside.
