Woman, 50, dies from COVID-19

–95 new cases recorded

A 50-year-old woman from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica) died from COVID-19 on June 3, taking the country’s total death toll to 1,238.
The Ministry of Health, on Saturday, revealed that she was partially vaccinated. There are currently 895 active COVID-19 cases in Guyana, following the addition of 95 new cases on Saturday.

These cases were recorded in Regions One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six and Seven.
Region Four accounted for 55 of the new cases; Region One recorded three new cases; Region Two recorded 11 new cases; Region Three recorded 15 new cases; Region Five recorded one new case; Region Six recorded two new cases; and Region Seven recorded eight new cases.

The country has now recorded a total of 65,243 confirmed cases since the first COVID-19 case was reported in March 2020.
Of the active cases, one person is in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the National Infectious Diseases Hospital, Liliendaal; 28 are in institutional isolation; 856 are in home isolation, and 10 are in institutional quarantine.

Many of the persons infected with the virus are said to be asymptomatic, that is, they are not exhibiting symptoms.
