CHELSEA Edghill is the lone Guyanese remaining in the World Table Tennis Feeder Tournament in Westchester, New York.
Edghill defeated Esther Ackerman 4-2 yesterday to advance to the Round-of-32 of the WTT event.
The Guyanese Olympian won the opening set 11-6 but would lose the second 8-11. However, she would win back-to-back sets 12-10 and 11-8.
The American bounced back, winning 8-11 but Edghill showed why she’s one of the best players in the region to close the game 14-12.
Following yesterday’s victory, Edghill will face France’s Camille Lutz in the Round-of-32.
Shemar Britton and Miguel Wong, the other Guyanese who participated in the tournament, were knocked out in the qualification round. (Rawle Toney)
