TWO men were, on Friday, released on $75,000 bail each for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking following a recent marijuana bust at an alleged ‘drug block’ in Wismar, Linden, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Upper Berbice).

The co-accused, Aubrey Williams, 45, of North East La Penitence, Georgetown, and his uncle, Kester Isaacs, 56, of Train Line, Wismar, Linden appeared via Zoom early Friday before Magistrate, Wanda Fortune at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.

The duo denied that on April 27, 2022, at Train Line, they had 260 grams of cannabis in their possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Magistrate Fortune ordered the accused men to lodge their passports at the court, and report to the Officer-in-Charge at the Mackenzie Police Station every first Monday of each month.

The matter was adjourned until June 27.

According to a police report, officers from Regional Division #10 conducted an intelligence-led operation at Train Line, an alleged ‘drug block’. Their prime target was, reportedly, Williams, who was also under surveillance.

The ranks reportedly approached Williams and searched him. Inside his right-side pants pocket, the police statement said, $15,990 was found and is “suspected to be proceeds from the sale of narcotics.”

According to the police report, the officers searched the area, and found one bulky black plastic bag that contained three transparent Ziploc bags with suspected cannabis.

The police said that Williams denied ownership of the cannabis and allegedly claimed that the narcotics belonged to his uncle, Isaacs.
