CHIEF Magistrate Ann McLennan on Tuesday remanded a 55-year-old businessman to prison for allegedly trafficking $2.4 million worth of cocaine.

Keith King, of Bel Air Avenue, Lamaha Gardens, Georgetown was hauled before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and charged with narcotics trafficking.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on April 16, 2022 at Bel-Air Avenue, he had 2.292 kilograms of cocaine in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

King was remanded to prison, and will return to court on May 10.

According to a release from the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), the operation was conducted at a Bel Air Avenue residence, where two parcels of cocaine were found.

King was arrested and taken to the headquarters of CANU, where a test was reportedly done on the two parcels. The CANU further reported that the substance tested positive for cocaine, and carried a street value of $2.4 million.

According to CANU, King is no stranger to the law, as in 2013, he was charged with narcotics trafficking after cocaine was found in a shipment of lumber.
