IN a bid to modernise the way Guyanese access the theoretical aspects of the driver’s licensing examinations, the Guyana Police Force (GPF), on Saturday, announced plans to introduce the service via an online platform to members of the public.
According to the force, this new system eliminates the extensive waiting time for results after writing the examinations, as the results for the online version would be displayed and uploaded in the GPF systems immediately.
The force, in its public education video voiced by Public Relations Officer of the Guyana Police Force, Stan Gouveia, noted that although the exam is available online, persons wishing to sit the exam will need to make their way to the Zara Cyber Security Centre located at the Police Training College, Eve Leary, Georgetown.
Similar to the written exams, persons wishing to utilise this service will be required to present their ID cards before entering the exam; electronic devices, paper, or pens will not be allowed into the examination rooms.
Persons found with these items in their possession will forfeit their chance to sit the examinations and will be asked to leave the room.
Once the exam commences, a timer will begin counting down and cannot be paused; all the questions will be multiple choice.
Persons can also change their answer by clicking the ‘clear my choice’ tab.
If they cannot answer a question, they can go on to the next question but “keep an eye on your clock and if you have time, you can go back to questions you have not answered,” Gouveia said.
It must be noted that persons can only make one attempt to do the exam; a printed copy of the results will be provided once the exam is complete, however, the results cannot be used to conduct the practical examination. A printed copy of the results will be provided once the exam is complete.
The results at the end of the exams cannot be used to conduct the practical examination and persons will be required to await the official results issued by the Traffic Chief.
In the eventuality that a person sitting the examination fails and is required to re-sit the exam, a payment of $1,000 will be required to sit the exam one month after the initial exam date.
According to the GPF, available dates and times for the upcoming examinations will be posted soon.
