E-NETWORKS INC., Guyana’s only locally owned telecommunications provider, has donated $500,000 towards the Ministry of Human Services’ ‘Wish Upon a Star’ initiative.

A cheque for the sum was presented to the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Shannielle Hoosein-Outar, on Tuesday.
The initiative, which was conceptualised by subject minister, Dr Vindhya Persaud, aims to fulfil the dreams of children with special needs, between the ages of four and fifteen, during the festive season.

These include those living with disabilities; children who would have experienced some traumatic or psychological incident in their lives; lost their parents and do not have guardians or caregivers; and have never had the opportunity to enjoy that one gift that could make them incredibly happy.
E-Networks Marketing Co-ordinator, Ashley John, lauded the ministry for its worthwhile project during the season of giving.

She commented, “We know a child’s circumstances or that of their parent/guardian might hinder them from enjoying Christmas; so we think it’s a brilliant initiative by the ministry to bring joy during this festive season. As a local company, we are always thrilled to show our support to improve the lives of Guyanese, especially the youth in need.”

Hoosein-Outar later expressed gratitude on behalf of the ministry.
“This donation will go a long way in making the Christmas wishes of less fortunate children come true,” she said.

In crafting the initiative, Dr Persaud had especially considered how children generally look forward to Christmas and how granting their special wishes can profoundly impact them.

“E-Networks is exceedingly pleased to participate in this project and extends its very best wishes for a joyous season to all those involved in this worthy venture,” the company noted.
