-Campbell and Fung retain Mr Physique and Ms Bikini titles

DARIOUS ‘Razor’ Ramsammy was confident of securing his first Mr Guyana title and he accomplished it with relative ease when the Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation held its Senior National Championship on Sunday evening at the Natural Cultural Centre.

Equally impressive was the dominance of Emmerson Campbell, who won his fifth Mr Physique title and that of Rosanna Fung, who proved that she has no rivals in the Ms Bikini competition.

For winning the overall title, Ramsammy earned $300,000, while Campbell and Fung received $200,000 each.
In total, over $1.5M was up for grabs.

Ramsammy, who has revolutionised his body in the last few years, faced competition from a sturdy looking, crowd-favourite, Colin Chesney; a chiselled Roger Callender and the effervescent 2019 champion Marlon Bennett–the four had emerged as champions of their respective divisions.
“They sure had very worthy opponents,” Ramsammy noted afterwards, “but they were not good enough to hold me off.”

He said that Chesney was his main rival, but he was confident of taking the spoils. He credits his all-year training for his peak showing and promised to take the sport to new heights.

“By adding my name to the list of Mr Guyana winners, I believe I can take the sport to where it needs to be.”
To advance to the championship battle, Chesney (Upper Demerara Barbell) had claimed an overall victory in the Masters and Heavyweight (177 lbs and above) divisions.

In the Masters battle, he won ahead of Bennett and former national sprinter Rawle Green respectively, while in the heavyweight battle he claimed a victory against Julio Sinclair and Green.

In the U-143 pounds division, Callender surged ahead of Faraad Mohamed, while Bennett won in the U-154 division against Andre Wagner and Henry Bassey in that order.

To qualify for championship honours, Ramsammy defeated his teammates, Nicholas Albert and Omisi Williams, at the Santo Domingo Open in October.

Meanwhile, Fung got the better of her Space Gym mate, Angela Barroncas, in the Ms Bikini battle, while Ashanti Conway placed third and Christina (Ramsammy’s wife) placed fourth.

Campbell defeated his long-time rival, Yannick Grimes in the Men’s Physique battle, while Jonathan Jeffrey, who continues to improve, placed third with Ronaldo Caldeira in fourth.
