Pensioner charged for conning man out of $1.5M

A SIXTY-NINE-year-old Operation Manager was, on Friday, released on $250,000 bail by City Magistrate, Dylon Bess, after he denied that took $1.5 million from a man and failed to deliver a vehicle to him.

Robert Ramdass of Second Street, Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that between May 1, 2021 and November 30, 2021, at Robb Street, Georgetown, while being solely entrusted by Rasheed Bispat with the sum of $1,585,000 to deliver a new model X-Trail Vehicle, he fraudulently converted the sum to his own use and benefit.

With no objection raised by the police prosecutor, Magistrate Bess released Ramadas on $250,000 bail and adjourned the matter until January 13, 2022.
