JUSTIN DeSantos, a 19-year-old mechanic, was, on Friday, released on $550,000 bail for allegedly stealing a man’s motor car.
DeSantos of Section ‘C’ Diamond Housing Scheme,East Bank Demerara, appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
He denied that on October, 23, 2021, at East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he stole one 212 motor car valued at $1.3 million, property of Campion Chichester.
DeSantos’ attorney, during an application for bail, told the court that his client was asked by Chichester to do some repairs on the 212 motor car. Upon completion, DeSantos was given direction by Chichester to a location where the car was expected to be dropped off.
However, the police prosecutor told the court that DeSantos was recently arrested by police. The court was also told that the accused is currently under investigation at the Turkeyen Police Station for allegations of carjacking.
After listening to both sides, the magistrate released DeSantos on $550,000 bail and ordered him to lodge his passport at the court. He is also expected to report every Friday at the Diamond/Grove Police Station.
