SOME 60,000 cannabis plants and 600 pounds of dried cannabis were destroyed by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) earlier Wednesday afternoon as the agency concluded yet another successful eradication exercise.

A police statement said ranks from the Region 6 (East Berbice-Corentyne) Division discovered four fields covering 10 acres of land in the Upper Berbice River close to Ebeni. The plants ranged from six inches to 10 ft in height.

Five camps were reportedly discovered and destroyed. Police report that a man was seen in the field but escaped when he saw the police.
