THE President of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, Antonio L. Carricarte Corona, recently received Guyana’s Ambassador to Cuba, Halim Majeed, at the Chamber’s Offices in Centro Havana, to examine co-operation between the chamber and Guyana’s business sector in the context of COVID-19 and its aftermath.

According to the embassy, the Chamber President reaffirmed Cuba’s position with respect to deepening trade and investment between Guyana and Cuba. He said there was no question about that. He anticipated that Cuba would be importing more rice and lumber from Guyana.

President Antonio L. Carricarte Corona told Ambassador Majeed that the chamber is planning to visit Guyana as soon as the details could be worked out, post-COVID-19.

He also briefed Ambassador Majeed on the 2022 Havana International Trade Fair (FIHAV) that is expected to be held possibly in October next year.

Also in attendance at the meeting were Arlenys Ponce, trade specialist with responsibility for Guyana, and Dr. Celia Labora, Director of the International Department of the Chamber.
