MINISTER of Natural Resources with responsibility for Petroleum, Vickram Bharrat has endorsed the International Energy Conference Expo Guyana 2022 (IECEG2022) billed for February 2022.

Minister Bharrat’s endorsement comes at a time when the conference continues to receive tremendous support from the local, regional and international business communities, regional government leaders, and industry experts.

Minister Bharrat, in a release from his ministry, said he is pleased to be associated with the event which is being held under the theme, “Charting a sustainable energy future”.

The energy conference and expo is expected to be held from February 15 – 18, 2022 here in Georgetown, at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre.
Minister Bharrat said, in his statement, “The hosting of this conference is timely, and will further strengthen Guyana’s recognition as an emerging oil-and-gas leader, and as a country with enormous potential for investment and business opportunities. It is anticipated that this event will catapult Guyana into the spotlight that will continue on a path of economic and infrastructural transformation.”

The minister pledged the Ministry of Natural Resource and the Government of Guyana’s full support in hosting the energy conference and expo, and remains committed to supporting the organisers of this very strategic event that is geared towards creating partnerships and prospects for all participants, both foreign and local.

This International Energy Conference will act as a catalyst to promote, strengthen and enhance local content, which is an integral component for oil-and-gas development in Guyana. It is expected that the conference and expo will showcase Guyana as the oil-and-gas investment destination, create and build effective industry relationships, and provide the medium for local businesses to access collateral and joint ventures, which is in keeping with the goals and objective of the Local Content Policy. The government intends to highlight its complement of spin-off oil-and-gas investments, in addition to national infrastructure projects in the short to medium term.

Interim Chief Executive Officer of the IECEG2022, Angenie Abel, said, “This announcement by Minister Bharrat is a signal that we are moving in the right direction as we look to create the much-needed forum for the further development of Guyana’s energy sector. The IECEG20200 team welcomes this announcement by the Minister of Natural Resources, and, by extension, the Government of Guyana.”

Abel added: “This is just one of many more to come in the upcoming weeks and months leading up to February 2022. We have seen, so far, an outpouring of persons who want to have a seat at the table, from exhibitors to attendees who have so far started the pre-registration process.”
The registration portal for the conference and expo can be found on the IECEG’s website, www.guyanaenergy.gy.
