AFTER being on the run from the police for over a year, a 27-year-old labourer was on Wednesday remanded to prison for the armed robbery he allegedly committed on a Chinese-owned supermarket at Linden.

Richard Caesar, of South Amelia’s Ward, Linden appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, and was not required to plead to the charge, the particulars of which allege that on August 27, 2020, at Linden, he robbed Xing Wang Supermarket of $950,000 cash, and an iPhone 6S valued $80,000, while being armed with a gun in the presence of others.
The cash and phone, which amounted to a total value of $1,030,000, were the property of Guan Xiang.

According to reports, after allegedly committing the robbery, Caesar went into hiding from police, but was arrested on September 19 this year after receiving a “tip-off” as to his whereabouts.

He was remanded to prison until October 25. The case was transferred to the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
